USCGC Morngethau is the fourth Hamilton-class for Philippine Navy?

The U.S. Coast Guard is set to decommission USCGC Morngethau (WHEC 722) on Tuesday and could possibly be turned into a Philippine Navy frigate.

USCGC Morgenthau, a 378-foot high endurance cutter, eighth of 12 cutters in the class is set to decommission during a ceremony at Base Honolulu.

The first three decommissioned Hamilton-class cutters were transferred to the Philippine Navy which commissioned the vessels as Gregorio Del Pilar frigates.

According to previous reports, the Philippines have an option of acquiring one more Hamilton-class cutter, meaning that USCGC Morgenthau could possibly be the fourth BRP Gregorio Del Pilar frigate of the Philippine Navy.
