Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said on Monday, that United States has offered to help in the rehabilitation of Marawi City as he met with US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim last week, Inquirer reported.
“I met with Ambassador Kim last week, and they said: ‘If you need some help, let us discuss…’ So, we’ll still talk about what kind of aid we’ll get,” Lorenzana said.
“So, we are now preparing the rehabilitation plan and we are now preparing the mechanism to go into the rehabilitation and recovery, as soon as the fighting stops in Marawi,” Lorenzana said.
Lorenzana was assigned by the Malacañang Palace to lead the inter-agency task-force, the Task Force Bangon Marawi and will designate the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council to implement the rehabilitation of the city.
US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim had a scheduled meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte Monday afternoon to discuss the Americans’ continued support, particularly on “intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.”
