The Philippine National Police asked to President Rodrigo Duterte to extend the Martial Law in southern part of the Philippines.
According to Inquirer, in a press briefing on Monday, PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa said they submitted their proposal on martial law extension last Friday but they did not indicate for how long it will take.
“Meron kaming position paper na sinubmit last Friday expressing our stand on extension ng martial law. Pero hindi kami naglagay ng period up to when,” he told reporters.
The PNP chief said they made the recommendation because they believe some narcopoloticians are supporting the Maute terrorist group.
Not only the PNP submit their recommendation but also the military, they submit their own recommendation last Thursday.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Sunday said let us just wait for the President`s decision about the recommendation as he did not elaborate the details on the proposals.
