Missing sailor from US destroyer found dead after collision with PH ship


A number of the seven U.S. Navy sailors missing after a collision between a the American destroyer USS Fitzgerald and a merchant ship off the coast of Japan have been found dead, the 7th Fleet said Sunday, Rt said in a report.

The search for the seven missing sailors has ended, but the number of bodies found has not been confirmed as of yet, according to a US Navy commander cited by AP.

The bodies are being transferred to the US Naval Hospital Yokosuka for identification.

They were found after the Fitzgerald returned to its home port at Yokosuka on Saturday night and search and rescue crews were able to enter the ship.
