Israeli defense howitzers arrived in Manila


The Department of National Defense on Monday said nine more howitzers (M-71) have arrived in Manila.

According to GMA news, Israel-made 155-mm 39 caliber towed howitzers was arrived at the Port of Manila on Friday, said by the Defense department.

The delivery completed the 12-howitzer purchase of the government from Israeli company Elbit Systems Land.

It says that the three of the new delivered howitzers will be turn to the Marines while the remaining six, to The Philippines Army.

The defense contract was originally priced at P438.62 million, which includes the purchase of 240 units of 155-mm high explosive shells and integrated logistic support, reported by the Philippine News Agency.

Elbit Systems Ltd. is an Israel-based international defense electronics company engaged in a wide range of programs throughout the world. The Israeli company won the bid with an offer of P410.84 million.
